PIATRAONLINE brief history
It’s been 10 years filled with challenges, while working steady for promoting natural stone to beauty lovers and proving that a classic material is able to shape wonderful and actual designs. At the same time, we invested time for educating our customers on quality, versatility and the multiple uses of natural stone.
2007
We establish the company and start making our dreams come true. The 2 partners are in charge of every department of the business: acquisitions, partnerships, sales, customer support and financial.
2008
We open Romania’s first online store for natural stone, a revolutionary idea at the time. Delivery time is 24 to 48 h, since order confirmation.
2009-2010
We begin visiting quarries from Bulgaria and Greece, new stone suppliers. We launch our first showroom: 300 square meters in 137A Aleea Teisani, District 1, Bucharest.
2011
We decide to include in our product range marble and travertine (today, one of the best sellers). This year also, we sign the first exclusivity deals and partnerships with Turkey, Germany and Egypt. Furthermore, we are granted exclusive distribution rights for LTP UK, Europe’s number one supplier in maintenance and professional aftercare solutions for natural stone.
2012-2013
We are constantly expanding our product range and begin working with quarries from Spain, China and India. We begin exporting to Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Slovakia, England and France.
2014
We open a new showroom, same location, yet 1000 square meters and more than 100 concept spaces, inspiration for our visitors and their projects. Moreover, we are re-launching www.piatraonline.ro and double our team. We initiate the Black Friday campaigns, a premiere for the stone industry in Romania.
2015-2016
Another year for refining the quality of our products and services. We introduce SKIN flexible slate, a global innovation and a unique product for the Romanian market. Furthermore, we certify for ISO 9001 Quality Management System, implementing the upgraded version of the order management system while increasing warehouse capacity by more than 20%.
As a result of our steady development, we launch a re-branding campaign and a new online platform. We are also nominee as national champions within European Business Awards and awarded at “Gala Premiilor eCommerce”, the “Casa, Gradina si Unelte” category. We are proudly sponsoring the Christmas Trees Festival and the Architecture Triennial. We develop a concept-flat within our showroom and join ACRM (Asociatia Clubul Roman de Mobila).
2017
Another year of reinforcing our brand promise #generatinginspiration and the year we launch Arhikit. The ARHIKIT Pack is the only free resource kit designed for architects and interior designers. A wonderful kit. ARHIKIT includes samples for the full range of SKIN flexible slate, digital textures of materials, samples for our main stones and a PIATRAONLINE catalog. ARHIKIT was available for easy order at arhikit.piatraonline.ro.
We are launching the Pavilion – the largest pavilion in Europe for natural stone, with more than 300 models of stone and finishes, integrated in thematic areas. We wanted to be able to find at PIATRAONLINE things you probably didn’t know existed. This new space comes as an extension of our showroom, highlighting the features of natural stone used for exterior decoration project. The Pavilion is a gallery of ideas implemented for people who need to picture the stone in their homes, but also a space of work and inspiration for designers and architects.
For the 10th anniversary of our brand, we organized a stone art exhibition signed by Hirotoshi Ito and curated by Ioana Ciocan at Galateca. The idea and support for this event come as a natural addition to our communication efforts so far. Every time we had the opportunity we said that natural stone can have many roles, reinventing itself with every new context in which it is framed. Each piece of natural stone is a work of art carved by nature: unique, suggestive, touching.
2018
The year we keep #generatinginspiration for our community. We promote a new format of bimonthly show produced and broadcast by PIATRAONLINE, aimed to convey inspiration with people and stories behind them. The “Inspiring Stories” show is broadcast live on the official Facebook page of PIATRAONLINE. With a dynamic format, the show promotes inspiring people from many areas.
We continue to bring natural stone to the most creative areas and domains and from this passion associated with creative and beautiful design emerged #FoodRocks campaign – the competition for designing kitchen objects, a challenge for us and also the participating creative minds, because we fully support creativity.
To keep our brand promise, #generatinginspiration, we wanted to prove that apart from kitchen or garden, our showroom has many creative resources.
